Supporting Rural Farmers Through Sustainable Agriculture

The Lalibela Olive Tree Project is committed to improving the lives of rural communities by providing farmers with the knowledge, resources, and opportunities needed to build a more sustainable future. As the project continues to grow, supporting local farmers remains one of its highest priorities.

By combining olive cultivation with community development, the project creates lasting benefits that extend beyond agriculture. It empowers families, strengthens local economies, and promotes environmentally responsible farming practices.

Investing in Farmers

The project plans to support rural farmers through practical initiatives that improve agricultural productivity and livelihoods. These include the development of irrigation systems, improved access to clean water, the distribution of quality olive seedlings, and technical training in modern olive cultivation.

These investments will help farmers increase production while using natural resources more efficiently.

Creating Employment Opportunities

As nursery operations, olive plantations, and future olive oil production expand, the project is expected to create employment opportunities for approximately 80 local people, including youth, women, and smallholder farmers.

These new jobs will contribute to household incomes, strengthen the local economy, and encourage young people to participate in sustainable agriculture.

Building Skills for the Future

Training is a key part of the project’s long-term vision. Farmers and community members will receive guidance on olive tree planting, orchard management, irrigation, harvesting, and sustainable farming techniques.

By sharing knowledge and practical skills, the project aims to build a strong foundation for Ethiopia’s growing olive sector.

Growing Together

The success of the Lalibela Olive Tree Project depends on the active participation of local communities and the support of development partners. Together, we are creating opportunities that improve livelihoods, protect the environment, and contribute to Ethiopia’s sustainable development.

Every olive tree planted is more than an investment in agriculture—it is an investment in people, communities, and a brighter future for generations to come.
